I was about to recite a poem to Jim tonight during our online conversation, but got no chance. He¡¯s so excited about telling me things of his family. I¡¯m glad he¡¯d like to share those stories of his family and its history with me. So I just listened to him. Anyway I¡¯d like to recite the poem here to share it with anyone who read this update.
This poem is called The Lake Isle Innisfree, written by William Butler Yeats, famous Irish poet. It expresses the desire of Yeats¡¯ for the romantic and peaceful life.
Here it goes:
The Lake Isle Innisfree
I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of a clay and wattles made,
Nine-bean rows will I have there, a hive for the honeybee,
And I will live alone in the bee-loud glad.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings,
There midnight¡¯s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet¡¯s wings.
I will arise and go now, for night and day,
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore,
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart¡¯s core.
It¡¯s a beautiful poem representing us tranquil and picturesque scenery
