My new interest

My new interest

I developed a new interest¡ªcooking.

To me, interest is something that helps you relax after long-time working. Every morning I persist in memorizing over hundred new words. After that I always try to look for something else to do for fun to have myself relax as I do feel a little bit mentally tired after that work. I¡¯m interested in reading most, but it seems it cannot give me any help to relax on mind, because I¡¯ve to work in mind in another way.

Being home, I sometimes do some housework¡ªwashing dishes, cooking and so on. Gradually, I found I was more and more interested in cooking. It is something interesting to do. During the process of cooking, I feel I am able to manage everything¡ªpreparation of the materials, and cooking. I can cook whatever I want in my way. I always feel when cooking that I¡¯m a little witch. Salt, sugar, soybean sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, onion, ginger and starch are all my condiments to make magic. Besides these, another condiment that I put in my dishes is my ¡°love¡± for the family, without which I guess the dishes wouldn¡¯t taste good. Of course, in my magic there won¡¯t be explosions as real witch does. J

Apart from cooking dishes, my mom also taught me to cook other food. For example, she taught me how to make Bao zi with any fillings I want; how to bake pies and pancakes in the pan; and how to make Men mian, a kind of noodle of Shan Xi province where my mom was born. Besides, she also taught me how to make pickles. I enjoy the process of cooking very much in which I can relax myself mentally and I take cooking as a way to show my love to my family. Of course, I enjoy my works of cooking too.

Wildlife park trip

Cool autumn has come following the retreating steps of the scorching summer. I went to Wildlife Park with my parents on Saturday to enjoy this delightful early autumn after ¡°secluding¡± two months at home.

We started out at around 9:30 in the morning. Actually that was rather late than I¡¯ve planned. It took us about one and half hours to get there by bus, (Fortunately, it¡¯s direct line and we didn¡¯t have to make transfer.), and it¡¯s almost noon when we arrived. I wondered if we could see any animals at the time when they¡¯ve got to take a nap. Anyway, I felt very excited as it was the first time that I¡¯ve been to such big wildlife park.

Different from the zoo that I went to when young, there are many animals and birds from tropics, such as zebras, lions, kangaroos, antelopes, gorillas, wild dogs, ostriches (some from Africa and some from Australia), and parrots¡ which are separated in different part of the park. Beside there are many other rare animals¡ªgolden monkeys, ring-tailed monkeys, tigers from India and Dong Bei Province of China, bears, yaks, wolf, silk foxes, chameleons, cranes, peacocks¡ I was very excited to have close look at them, to feed them and to take pictures with some of them, such as kangaroos, dears, ostriches, many kinds of parrots, peacocks, cranes and so on. To be with animals, I felt relaxed in mind and purified in spirit.

There are some performances presented by animals. One impressed me very much, that was a tourist was invited to sit on the back of a crocodile and was assured she wouldn¡¯t be hurt. Though hesitating, she¡¯s brave enough to give it a try. She sat on the back of the crocodile for a few seconds. That¡¯s pretty exciting, but I didn¡¯t take that risk, as I didn¡¯t want my bottom to be bitten off. J

The last kind of birds I saw was swans¡ªblack swans. Very beautiful. That was the first time I¡¯ve seen this kind beautiful birds in real life. (I always see them on TV.) They were elegantly swimming in the lake near the entrance of the park. Of course, I didn¡¯t forget to take pictures with them.

That¡¯s how I spent my day. I was totally relaxed and absorbed in the nature.

Before ending up this piece of writing, there¡¯s one thing left I¡¯d like to keep it here that is I appreciate my parents who accompanied me to take the trip in wildlife park. It¡¯s natural that they won¡¯t accompany me in all my life. To me, the only way that leaves no regret is to cherish every day, every moment to be with them.
